Instructor: Ingrid Moss
Tap into your creative side while improving your reading comprehension and writing skills. This year’s class will include a greater variety of activities, both individual and group projects. Projects will include writing and acting out skits, making and playing games, and designing posters, book jackets, and dioramas. We will read both intermediate picture books and chapter books this year. We will have class discussions and you will make personal connections to real life experiences. You will analyze literature elements and form opinions about our books. Biblical verses and values will be an important part of our class discussions. We will continue to work on writing. You will go through the writing process of creating a graphic organizer, writing your sloppy copy, and writing a final copy for book summaries, expository, informative, and persuasive literature. As you do your class projects your writing skills will improve. There will be weekly homework assignments. Homework may include reading chapters for our chapter book studies, writing a weekly reflection at home about what we discussed in class, or finishing a class assignment.
Students will need 3 Ring Binder and Standard Sheet Protectors
