Instructor: Dr. Becky Carlin
Covers a comprehensive variety of topics for honors high school chemistry such as a lab safety certification, in-depth stoichiometry, solution chemistry, thermochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energy in chemistry, electrochemistry, and an introduction to organic chemistry in a fun and engaging experience. Our course is unique among chemistry courses because we use a much more hands on approach with many different models, interactive activities, and real life applications not accessible to many families. Students will leave the course with a collection of lab reports that demonstrate they completed the classic labs that colleges are looking for upon admission. but with so much more practical and memorable knowledge because they were engaged and participated every time they encountered class. Students leave the course with a working knowledge of what they were taught. They demonstrate this with a hands-on midterm and final exam. Many students falter when they get to college because they were never required to use the knowledge they gained. We minimize that difficulty by requiring hands on homework and hands on testing. Experience chemistry for life.
Pre-requisites: College Bound Chemistry or other 1st year Chemistry course with a minimum of a B and permission from Dr. Thai.
